List of Medications

Sildenafil, commonly known as Viagra, or Revatio, is a custom compoundable pharmacy drug that is classified as a phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitor. Its most commonly known use is for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in men; however, it has several other medical uses as well. At a lower concentration, sildenafil is given to pulmonary arterial hypertension patients to help them improve their ability to exercise more fully. For treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension, sildenafil works by relaxing blood vessels in the lungs, which allows for better blood flow.

Sildenafil should be taken orally. It is given as a tablet, or as a liquid for some conditions that utilize the lower concentration product. Ask your doctor for detailed information on the variations of this drug and how it might be useful for your treatment. Be sure to get a good understanding of the drug you are prescribed, know how to use it, and be clear on your dosage.
