Treat Cancer & The Side-Effects of Chemotherapy

Since it is a powerful drug, chemotherapy kills rapidly multiplying cancerous cells in the body. Either alone or with other treatments, there are many chemotherapy drugs available. However, due to its potency, chemotherapy is not without side effects, ranging from mild and controllable to serious and difficult. Fusion Rx pharmacy has many medications that can be tailored to treat a cancer patient's individual needs.

Chemotherapy Side Effects

The following are some of the side effects of chemotherapy:

Two of the most common chemotherapy side effects are vomiting and nausea, both of which are easy to control with certain medications. Each chemotherapy drug is classified as minimal, low, moderate or high in regards to its vomiting and nausea risk. The likelihood of a patient experiencing either of these side effects depends on factors such as the type of chemo drug, the dosage, the addition of cancer treatments like radiation and a past history of vomiting and nausea. In addition, some people may be more prone to experiencing vomiting and nausea, such as women; those who are younger than 50 years old; and patients who do not drink much alcohol.

Signs and Symptoms of Cancer

Frequent trips to the bathroom, blood in the stool or urine, or difficulty urinating are all possible signs and symptoms of cancer. Often, a person may notice inexplicable weight loss and appetite changes alongside other cancer symptoms.

Chronic wounds, bumps and lumps are all signs of cancer. While these signs may be due to a skin disease, infection or benign tumor, every bump, lump and sore should be examined by a doctor, especially any bumps that grow or do not resolve on their own. Also, abnormal bodily discharge, coughing, difficulty breathing or odd odors that come from the orifices need to be checked to find out if cancer is the culprit.

Another major cancer symptom is pain. While pain or difficulty walking and moving may be caused by a muscle disease or arthritis, it is potentially a symptom of cancer as well. Depression and lethargy are two more symptoms that could point to cancer, particularly when they are experienced with any of the other aforementioned cancer signs and symptoms.

Cancer can present itself through a myriad of signs and symptoms. Although many signals can be indicative of other medical problems, it is imperative for anyone who experiences them to discuss these issues with his or her physician.
